Zhangjiakou Chabei Wind Farm Project

The project installed and operates 67 wind turbines with a capacity of 1,500kW per turbine. This project is assisting China in stimulating and accelerating the commercialisation of grid-connected wind power technologies and markets. The project has helped the local government promote economic development, switching from fossil fuel reliance. The development is created local employment opportunities during both the construction and operational phases of the project. The wind energy is also improving the air quality in the region, a problem directly caused by the unrestricted burning of coal and other fossil fuels prior to this project being implemented.
